Maryland State Championships
The Greenbrier Challenge will once again be the Maryland State Championship race and award USAC State Champion Titles and Medals to the top 3 Licensed finishers in each class.
Award Ceremonies and Rider Eligibility:
- For the Beginner and Sport classes there will be a second award ceremony following immediately after the first:
- For the first ceremony for each class, Both USAC Licensed and Non-Licensed riders in each class will be eligible for the Race medals and prizes. The number of medal/prize award positions for each class are listed on the Classes & Purse page of this website and in the race flyer.
- For the second ceremony for each class, the top 3 USAC Licensed Riders from all states are eligible for the Maryland State Championship titles and medals.
- For the Expert and Pro classes, there will be just one award ceremony since these classes must all have licenses. State Championship medals and cash prizes will be awarded in a single ceremony for each class.
- For the
Marathon, Clydesdale and Single Speed Classes there will be just one
award ceremony, since USAC State Championship titles/medals will not be
awarded. The 2010 marathon race will not be run as a specific-distance
type of USAC marathon event but rather as a timed event (like a 24 hour
race format) since the course must be assured to be clear for the
Pro/Expert part of the day’s races. Both Licensed and Non-Licensed
riders in the Marathon, Clydesdale and Single Speed Classes race will
be eligible for Race medals and prizes.
- Note: There was some confusion at the 2009 race about whether non-Maryland residents were eligible for Maryland State Championship Titles & Medals. We have confirmed with USA Cycling headquarters in Colorado that riders from all states are eligible under the mountain biking rules. So, we will once again award State Championship medals & titles to riders from ANY STATE so that all riders have the opportunity for achievement.
