Riders are responsible for knowing the rules of racing mountain bikes. This is a USAC-MTB event and will be held under USAC regulations. |
-Pre-Riding- PRE-RIDING the course; any riders wishing to pre-ride the course will be allowed to do so on saturday the 25th or MUST enter the course before 8:45 AM on Sunday the 26th |
-Course Info-The race course is 5.7 miles (9 km) long, with 735 feet of climbing each lap. Trails are heavily wooded, approximately 60% old narrow double track, 40% single track, with the start/finish alongside a beautiful lake. Climbs are moderate, except for one steep climb, and are typically loose and rocky. 80-90% of the trails are well drained and rocky and remain fairly solid in wet conditions, although some mud may be encountered on the newest single track and stream crossings during wet weather. Dry weather brings fast, rocky trails. |
-Marathon Race-Although Marathon racers do not require a USA Cycling Annual License, the Marathon race will be held under USA Cycling rules. See the rulebook at www.usacycling.org. The major highlight is that all repairs to the bicycle must be made by the rider only and only with tools carried by the rider. Although a pit area will be set up at the race for Pro riders and Junior riders qualifying for the World Championship team, all other riders will be disqualified if using outside assistance or tools stored there. |
