AMBC Race Gives Qualifications for All Classes for U.S. National Championships!
In 2008 the U.S. MTB National Championship race will be on the east coast for the second time, at Mt. Snow, VT on July 17-20. The Greenbrier Challenge will be one of the few northeast U.S. races where riders can qualify for invitations to Nationals! It is one of only 18 events on the USA Cycling "National Calendar" of top rated events.AMBC Race Also Serves as Maryland State Championships!
Again in 2008, the top 3 NORBA Licensed riders in each class and from all states will be awarded Maryland State Championship Titles/Medals!Special Significance for
Junior Racers:
- Greenbrier will be one of only two "Automatic Qualifiers" for Junior Expert racers to gain spots on the World Championship Team. (see USA Cycling for details).
- Greenbrier is also a race in the Alison Dunlap Junior Olympic Series. Junior racers of all levels (Beginner, Sport, Expert) will receive special Junior Olympic medals and gain points in the Junior Olympic Series toward Series Prizes.
Marathon Race
For the second time in 2008, the event will include a Marathon race!Join us for the 5th Annual Greenbrier Challenge mountain bike race. This race has been the top event in the Mid-Atlantic region for several years! The outstanding Greenbrier course is challenging for Pros yet rideable and fun for beginners. So, bring the whole family out for the day or the whole weekend. There’s plenty to do at this park nestled in the Western Maryland Appalachians, including hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail, boating and fishing on Greenbrier’s beautiful lake, and enjoying hot showers in the campground’s top-notch facilities. All within an hour’s drive from Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD.
